Football Stew

by Lisa Marie

What could be a better meal to serve to your hungry guys while they are watching the ball games this fall and winter than football stew? Regardless of which team they cheer for, they'll cheer for your super stew!

Ingredients:

* 2 lbs. stew beef, cubed

* 2 onions, cut into chunks

* 2 cups carrots, cut into chunks

* 2 stalks celery, sliced

* 5 medium potatoes, cut into chunks

* 2 tsp. sugar

* 2 tsp. salt

* 2 tbsp. quick cooking tapioca (Minute Tapioca)

* 2 cups tomato juice or V-8 juice

Directions:

Combine it all in a Dutch oven that has a cover. If you don't have a Dutch oven with a cover, use aluminum foil to cover it. Cover and bake your football stew at 250 F. for about 5 hours. Don't lift the lid to peak until it has baked for at least 4 hours.

If the guys aren't ready to eat when it is done, just keep it in the oven for another hour or so, but turn your oven down to warm.
